His Pretty Chaos

Running away from my problems in the city to a small town called Candy Creek is not the idyllic fresh start I envisioned.

On my first day in town, I accidentally try to... umm... take out their national treasure—an otter, to be clear—who I found in my bed. Let that sink in.

The stupidly handsome county sheriff arrests me, throws me into a holding cell, and it gets worse. Everyone looks at me as if I’m some kind of psychopath. How was I supposed to know their national treasure has whiskers and lives in the creek? But then I’m sentenced in a real court for my crime.

My punishment?

I must learn the town’s history before they’ll accept me as a permanent resident.

And my tutor?

The freaking county sheriff, who looks at me as if he would rather throw me into the creek than stand next to me.
